With ugly sweater vendors popping up on every street corner in the city and chain stores like Urban Planet offering a full line of ugly holiday attire, this just might be the year to give in to this cheesy Christmas trend.
If you love to run outdoors and take part in any of Vancouver’s year round 5Ks like Earth Day, Colour Me Rad or Oktoberfest, it’s no surprise someone came up with the Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash. This themed run /walk/hop 5K spectacle will offer the fit and not-so-fit a chance to burn off a few holiday calories while at the same time supporting the Children’s Wish Foundation.
How can anyone say no to participating in an #UglyDash in support of sick kids? Children’s Wish Foundation has a big heart and makes real –life dreams comes true by raising money to fulfill a favourite wish for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Right about now, Santa is making his list and going to find out who’s been naughty or nice. Get on his good list and sweat it out this Saturday, December 5. Registration is $40 for adults and $10 for kids under 8. Arrive in your ugly sweater at 10am at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody. Go –time is 11am.
This Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash thing is by no means something to attempt solo. The more the merrier at Christmas especially, so appoint a spirited team captain and then go to all lengths to bring even more cheese and festivity to this event. Tis’ the season, so come up with a team handle, a jingle and take it over the top. Word on the street from Santa’s posse is that there will even be snow blowers, Christmas characters and other surprises. No need to buy Christmas gifts after this 5K. Gift your sweaty race photo coupled with a Parallel 49 Ugly Sweater brew and your done like dinner. Ugly isn’t even close to being over after the dash and goes down for the 14th year in a row at the Commodore Ballroom on December 18. Run Ugly Run.
