Vancouver’s biggest end of summer country hoe-down backyard BBQ was back again this year for another Stanley Park take over. From brassieres and bloomers to daisy dukes, short ribs and briskets…Unbuckled has become Vancouver’s number one excuse to let loose and let er’ rip, Stampede style and then some.
This full day event invites ya’ll to bust out your loudest Western wear and let loose for one last late summer hoorah. Let’s just say that anything goes fashion wise at Unbuckled and it’s more like a dare to wear in the name of hillbilly, wild west attire than anything traditional or mainstream. The $29 ticket gets you in for a nice long eight hour day and includes a full line up of adult games, activities and entertainment geared toward pleasing the herds of hedonists’ arriving by the busload. From tug o’ war, mechanical bull riding, line dancing lessons to foot stompin’ fun live music, this event was deemed the unofficial Keith Urban pre-party. That it was and for those not lucky enough to double dip on a Keith Urban concert ticket after Unbuckled, the fun roared on long after the bus left the park for Rogers Arena.
Perhaps the biggest draw was the unique line up of fantastic live music. Both Willhorse and The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer gave all the non Keith Urban goers a hell of a boot stompin’ good time, party. Overall, we think this event is a necessary excuse for Vancouverites to get out more, embrace and release one’s inner hillbilly, ultimately showing the rest of the west we too know how to party till the cows come home.
